Ramy Atia tallies third straight shutout
St. Cloud, Minn.- St. Cloud State Men's Soccer (7-2-0, 5-0-0 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) notched their seventh straight victory as they beat Roosevelt 1-0 Friday, evening. The game started off slowly for both teams as neither were able to find the back of the net for the majority of the first half. That changed for the Huskies in the 36th minute as Noah Eklund drove a ball into Roosevelt territory that found its way to Matt Greenland. Greenland took a few dribbles and delivered a beautiful ball down to Rhys Ward who was deep in the box and took a shot off his right foot across the box which landed in the back of the net. The Huskies held onto that lead for the remainder of the half as they led 1-0 going into the break. The second half saw Roosevelt pick up their offensive attack as they registered five shots on goal. Goalkeeper Ramy Atia was flawless throughout the evening as he made big-time save after big-time save including a few diving saves. The Huskies had a few offensive opportunities in the second half to expand their lead in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net. The goal by Rhys Ward would be all the scoring necessary as St. Cloud State went on to defeat Roosevelt 1-0 for their seventh straight victory and third straight shutout victory.
