St. Cloud State shutout for second time this season

University Center, Mich.- No. 13 St. Cloud State Men's Soccer (7-3-0, 5-1-0 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) dropped their first game in over a month as they were shutout by Saginaw Valley State 3-0. The Cardinals picked up their first goal of the game in the 16th minute as Jonny Monney found the back of the net in what would be the game-winning goal. With six minutes to go until halftime, Sheikh Manneh knocked in the second goal of the game for the SVSU to set the score at 2-0 going into the break. The Huskies offense started to create chances in the second half as Philip Caputo drew a penalty in the box, setting up a penalty kick. Caputo was the one to take the shot and had it saved by goalkeeper Nick Kay, hindering the Huskies momentum. The Huskies were blanketed the entire game by the Cardinal defense as they were held to five shots on the game with only one coming on goal. Saginaw Valley State scored their third goal of the game in the 66th minute. The Huskies would ultimately get shutout as their seven-game winning streak was snapped and they picked up their first conference loss of the season.
