Ottah Wins 200 Meters, St. Cloud State Track & Field Opens 2026 at Tommie Indoor Invitational

Huskies set six new personal bests, one seasons best in first meet of new year
ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Cloud State Track & Field opened 2026 at the Tommie Indoor Invitational, hosted by St. Thomas at the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex (AARC) in St. Paul on Friday. The Huskies recorded one event win, six new personal bests and one season best mark in their first meet of the new year.
Freshman Efe Ottah recorded the lone event win for the Huskies, winning her collegiate debut in the 200 meters after running 26.86. In the same race, junior sprinter Jenna Marxhausen (Two Harbors, Minn.) set a new indoor personal best time in the 200 meters, running 27.12.
Graduate jumper Elena Martinez-Rodriguez (Madrid, Spain) set new personal bests in the high jump and long jump. She cleared 1.61m/5-3.25 in the high jump to finish second and leapt 5.11m/16-9.25 in the long jump, placing ninth. Freshman Zoe Klocksien also recorded a new personal best in the long jump (4.99m/16-4.5).
Sophomore distance runner MerriAnna Johnson (Osceola, Wis.) and freshman distance runner Campbell Slattery (Big Lake, Minn.) each ran new personal best times in the mile, finishing in 5:49.38 and 6:05.62 respectively.
Sophomore distance runner Abbygail Nunez (South St. Paul, Minn.) finished third in the 800 meters after running a new season best time of 2:31.66.
