Woelfel Wins Pole Vault, Sets New Meet Record at Vanessa Seljeskog Classic for St. Cloud State Track & Field

Huskies set 10 new personal bests, two seasons best at Macalester Saturday
ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Cloud State Track & Field sophomore Lauren Woelfel (Becker, Minn.) won the pole vault, setting a new meet record in the process at the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic, hosted by Macalester at the Leonard Center in St. Paul on Saturday. The Huskies posted one event win, 10 new personal bests and two season best marks in their second consecutive weekend in the capital city.
Woelfel cleared 3.35m/10-11.75 in the pole vault, taking down the previous meet record of 3.30m. She has won the pole vault in both meets she has competed in this season. Junior hurdler/pole vaulter/jumper Olivia Witt (Delano, Minn.) set a new personal best in the event, clearing 2.75m/9-0.25.
In the long jump, the Huskies set four new personal bests and two season best marks. Junior sprinter/jumper Myesha Thompson (Mount Horeb, Wis.) finished second after leaping a new season best 5.51m/18-1. Graduate jumper Elena Martinez-Rodriguez (Madrid, Spain) was fourth after jumping a personal best 5.42m/17-9.5, while freshman Zoe Klocksien and Aliyah Horton also recorded new personal bests after jumping 5.00m/16-5 and 4.98m/16-4.25 respectively. Additionally, sophomore jumper/sprinter Kinsey Mohwinkle (Aplington, Iowa) recorded a new personal best in the event (4.98m/16-4.25).
Freshman Efe Ottah finished second in the 200 meters after running a new personal best time (26.64) while Horton also ran a new personal best time in the event (28.15). Junior sprinter Jenna Marxhausen (Two Harbors, Minn.) finished the 60 meters in a new personal best time of 8.44.
On the distance side, freshman distance runners Campbell Slattery (Big Lake, Minn.) and Jocie Wheeler (Annandale, Minn.) each ran new personal bests in the 800 meters. Slattery finished the half mile in 2:45.47, while Wheeler completed the race in 2:47.12. In the 1,000 meters, sophomore distance runner Abbygail Nunez (South St. Paul, Minn.) finished sixth after tying her personal best time of 3:10.41.
