SCSU Women's Team Hits New Heights in 2010
2010 saw the SCSU women’s tennis team reach new heights. The team finished with a 23-7 record and secured a second straight NSIC title with a big 5-2 win over previously unbeaten Augustana College in the championship match. This marked the second NSIC title in the team’s first two years in the conference. Receiving another NCAA bid the team hosted the NCAA Tournament for a second straight year. With a 5-0 win over Mesa State in the NCAA Regional Championship match the team represented St. Cloud State University with the first-ever trip to the NCAA Championships (“Sweet 16”) in Orlando, Florida. The victory also marked Coach Anderson’s 100th win on the women’s side.   Â
In recent years, SCSU has consistently finished above .500, including an 18-9 mark in 2011, 17-12 in 2013, 12-9 in the 2016 and 12-8 in 2017.  The team was also awarded the ITA All-Academic Team Award in 2017 and 2018 and Alexie Portz was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America team in 2018.Â
