SCSU Softball Splits at UMD: Wins 7-0, Falls 2-3

Duluth, Minn. – The St. Cloud State softball team took on the Bulldogs at UMD in their first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) match-up of the season. The Huskies split in the series vs. the Bulldogs, winning 10-0 in the first game and falling 2-3 in game two.
St. Cloud State now stands at 15-11. The Bulldogs are currently 17-8 overall.
Game One Recap
Jessica Goerger (Mankato, Minn.) hit a homerun in the first inning for the Huskies. Goerger finished with one rbi and four putouts.
Megan Lehnen (Burnsville, Minn.) went three for three from behind the plate.
Kelly Franks (Stevens Point, Wis.) pitched all seven innings for the Huskies. Franks gave up four hits, walked two batters, and struck out 12 batters.
The Huskies recorded six hits and five rbi's.
Game Two Recap
Tricia DeBoer (Blooming Prairie, Minn.) and Taylor Thomas (Fontana, Calif.) each recorded two hits for the Huskies. Thomas finished with an rbi and two put outs.
Megan Hedstrom (Palatine, Ill.) and Senna Francesconi (Schomberg, Ontario) each pitched three innings for St. Cloud State. Hedstrom gave up five hits and one walk. Francesconi gave up six hits, two walks and struck out three batters.
The Huskies finished with six hits, two rbi's and 19 put outs.
St. Cloud State will return to action on Saturday, Mar. 28 and Sunday, Mar. 29. The Huskies will take on Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State.
