Indoor Track’s Natalie Gottschalk Places Fourth in Indoor Pentathlon at SDSU Holiday Open

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Junior Natalie Gottschalk placed fourth overall in the pentathlon at the SDSU Holiday Meet and Multi on Friday, Dec. 2, at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex hosted by South Dakota State.
Gottschalk earned 3,385 points in the five events to place fourth. Her 3,385 points are just above the 3,285 points needed to get a provisionally qualifying mark for the NCAA DII Indoor Championships.
The winner of the pentathlon was Olivia Montez Brown of Augustana with 3641 points.
Gottschalk earned second in the 800m with a time of 2:25.04, third in the long jump (5.28m/17'04.00) and fifth in the shot put (9.71m/31'10.25), high jump (1.55m/5'01.00) and 60m hurdles (9.52)
The SCSU women's indoor track & field program continues the busy weekend with Sam Sunstrom running in distance events at St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn. in "The Opener" on Saturday Dec. 3. The rest of the women's program is at the Chuck Petersen Open hosted by Minnesota State also on Dec. 3.
Following this weekend's action, the SCSU women are not competing again until after the holidays when the program heads off to the Minnesota Open hosted by the University of Minnesota on Saturday, Jan. 14.
