Ryan Johnson and JoVonte Suber Win Events on Final Day of the SDSU Indoor Classic

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The St. Cloud State track and field team won two events on the final day of competition at the SDSU Indoor Classic on Saturday, Feb. 13.
The two teams ended up winning a total of two events on the afternoon and had five top-four finishes. The programs also recorded a total of four NCAA Provisional marks.
Among the highlights and top finishers were senior thrower Ryan Johnson winning the weight throw with his toss of 18.46m. The throw was also an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Johnson also finished 11thh in the men's shot put (14.84m).
Junior JoVonte Suber won the 400m dash in a time of 48.22. The time was also an NCAA Provisional mark.
Suber was also part of the 4x400 relay team along with sophomore Marcus Welk, freshman Wezley Turner and sophomore Isaiah Pitchford that placed third in their event in an NCAA Provisional qualifying time of 2.17.16.
Junior Patience Yalartai finished fourth in the triple jump with a 11.70m. The leap also reached NCAA Provisional Qualifying status.
Junior Keyshawn Davis placed fourth in the triple jump for SCSU with his leap of 14.11m.
Selected members of the indoor track & field programs are in competition from Feb. 14-15 at the NSIC Multi-Event Championship in Mankato, Minn. The team's next event as groups will be Feb. 19 when the men will compete at the Snowshoe Open and Feb 20 when the women are at the Parents Day Open. Both events will be held on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
