St. Cloud State swept by the Gophers on the road in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN - The St. Cloud State University Huskies women's hockey team (2-4-0, 0-2-0 WCHA) were defeated 4-1 by the No. 3 University of Minnesota Golden Gophers (5-0-1, 3-0-1 WCHA) at Ridder Arena Saturday afternoon.
For the second game in a row, Minnesota controlled the first period of play with the Huskies trailing the Gophers 0-3 going into the second. The Gopher's Amy Potomak, Emily Oden, and Grace Zumwinkle all got one past SCSU junior goaltender Janine Alder. Assists provided by Sarah Potomak, Taylor Heise and Alex Woken, and Nicole Schammel respectively.
Alder became a brick wall in the second period at Ridder Arena, stopping 14 shots on goal. St. Cloud's only shot in the second period would get them on the score sheet 1-3. Jenniina Nylund scored her second goal in as many games to put SCSU within reach of a comeback. Nylund was assisted on the power play goal at 16:55 of the period by defenders Taylor Wemple and Rachel Herzog. St. Cloud went into the third trailing by two.
Minnesota's Oden notched her second goal of the night and of her collegiate career at 5:55 of the third period, extending their lead back to three goals. The game ended in a 4-1 Gopher win.
