SCSU women's tennis rolls to 6-3 win over Southwest Minnesota State

The St. Cloud State women's tennis team (3-12, 3-4 NSIC) gained a key NSIC victory on Friday, March 23 with a 6-3 victory over Southwest Minnesota State University on the Lifetime Fitness Courts in Oakdale, Minn.
In singles play, Alexie Portz charted a 6-4, 5-7, 10-5 win at number one singles over SMSU's Gabby Tellijohn.  Teammate Fernanda Quintino dos Santos scored a 6-2, 6-2 win at second singles and Abby Scheck added a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at sixth singles for the Huskies.
SCSU also dominated doubles play as Portz and Quintino dos Santos added an 8-0 win at first doubles.  Melissa Nierenhausen and Samantha Fitzpatrick tallied an 8-4 win at second doubles and Scheck and Sommer Kopff won 8-6 at third doubles.
The Huskies will return to the Twin Cities on March 25 for an 8 a.m. NSICÂ match against Minnesota State at the Lifetime Fitness Courts in Fridley, Min.
