Huskies set to partake in NSIC Indoor Championships

ST. CLOUD, MINN. – It all comes down to this for the St. Cloud State University women's indoor track and field team. After months of training and preparing, the Huskies are set to partake in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Indoor Track and Field Championships February 22-23 and Minnesota State in Mankato, Minnesota.
St. Cloud State is looking to build on its tenth place finish from one year ago, as 14 student-athletes are set to partake in the Indoor Championship this season. Small but mighty, the Huskies hold eight top-8 performances in the NSIC this season and return one All-Conference honoree from the 2018 team.
The NSIC Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship will take place February 22-23 at Myers Fieldhouse on the Minnesota State campus in Mankato, Minnesota. The competition will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, February 23 with the men's heptathlon. Field events will begin around 12 p.m. on Friday with track events starting roughly an hour later at 1 p.m. The women's pentathlon will kick off competition at 9 a.m. on Saturday with field events to follow at 9:30 a.m. Track finals will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday as well.

Meet St. Cloud State's NSIC Indoor Championship qualifiers (in 280 characters or less)
Emma Baynes (So.; Sprints; Mankato, Minn. / Mankato East)
Junior sprinter from Mankato, Minnesota. Ranked 10th in the 60m dash (7.76), No. 15 in the 200 (25.71). Recorded PRs in both races in 2019 indoor season. Always has to put a ribbon in her hair pre meet.
Bridget Brown (Jr.; Middle Distance; Elk River, Minn. / Elk River)
Ranks in the top-25 in the NSIC in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:41.43. PRed in the 200, 400 and 600 in 2019 indoor season. Favorite food is mashed potatoes and favorite restaurant is Cossetta's in the Twin Cities.
Emelia Burris (So.; Sprints; Wooddale, Ill. / Fenton)
No. 6 in the NSIC in the 60m dash with a time of 7.70. Also ranks No. 18 in 200 (25.77) and No. 3 in long jump (5.67m). Finished eighth in the 200m dash at the NSIC Championship as a freshman in 2018. Enjoys taking naps on off days.
Annie Falardreau (Fy.; Throws; Grand Rapids, Minn. / Grand Rapids)
First year from Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Qualified for the 2019 NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championship in shot put (12.55m). PRed in weight throw (14.68m) and shot put during the season.
Leighten Fischer (So.; Multis/Hurdles; Iola, Wis. / Iola-Scandinavia)
One of two sophomores from Wisconsin who specializes in hurdles and the multi. Ranked fourth in the NSIC in the pentathlon with a score of 3136. Also ranked in the top-20 in 60m hurdles (17 – 9.28) and long jump (22 – 5.19m). Favorite athlete is Aaron Rodgers.
Emma Gauert (Fy.; Pole Vault; New Ulm, Minn. / New Ulm)
One of three Huskies to qualify in pole vault. Ranks No. 17 in the conference with a vault of 2.95m, which is also a PR.
Annika Juenemann (Fy.; Distance; Eyota, Minn. / Dover-Eyota)
First year making her NSIC Indoor Championship debut for St. Cloud State. No. 18 in the NSIC in the 5000m run with a time of 19:15.45. Also competed at the NSIC Cross Country Championships this fall.
Abby Jungwirth (Jr.; Jumps; Forest Lake, Minn. / Forest Lake)
Top field returner from the Huskies 2018 Indoor Championship Team. Earned All-Confernece honors in triple jump as a sophomore with a third place finish. Currently ranked fifth in the event at 11.59m and is No 12 in long jump (5.40m). Favorite TV show is One Tree Hill.
Haley Kelvington (So.; Pole Vault; Foley, Minn. / Foley)
One of three Huskies to qualify in pole vault. No. 18 in the NSIC thanks to her PR vault of 2.91m. Favorite off-day activity is watching sunsets. Favorite food is brownies.
Kalli Jo Klocke (Fy.; Pole Vault; Hayfield, Minn. / Hayfield)
One of three student-athletes to qualify for the NSIC Indoor Championships in pole vault. Is the highest-ranking Husky with a vault of 3.15m (No. 10 in NSIC).
Chrissy Lofgren (Jr.; Distance; Stewartville, Minn. / Stewartville)
Top distance returner for St. Cloud State. Currently ranked eighth in the 5000m run thanks to her PR time of 18:27.25. Also ranks 17th in the 1000m run (3:08.81).
Faith Lubner (So.; Multis/Jumps/Hurdles; Reedsville, Wis. / Reedsville)
One of two multi/jump/hurdle specialists from Wisconsin. No. 3 in the NSIC in the pentathlon with a score of 3245. No. 11 in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.99 and No. 15 in long jump with a jump of 5.35m. Is a two-time state champion in Wisconsin.
Autum Shurbert-Hetzel (Jr.; Distance; Stevens Points, Wis. / Stevens Point Area)
Top qualifier for the Huskies in both the 800 and 1000m runs. Holds the No. 8 time in the NSIC in the 1000m run thanks to a PR time of 3:04.92 at the Parent's Day Open. Also ranked 23rd in the 800m run (2:24.81).
Maya Taylor (So.; Jumps; Oswego, Ill. / Oswego East)
Ranked jumper in both long jump and triple jump. No. 6 in triple jump with a mark of 11.57m. No. 21 in long jump at 5.20m. Hails from Oswego, Illinois.
Head coach: Sam Kettenhofen
Third year head coach of the St. Cloud State women's track and field team. Seventh year with the program (previously assistant coach from 2013-2015). Coached three All-Americans during his tenure at SCSU.
