
Track and Field wins indoor regular season finale at Devine-Remitz Meet

St. Cloud State Women's Track and Field earned a dominant win at the Devine-Remitz Meet in Bemidji on Friday evening. The Huskies recorded a team score of 124, edging out Bemidji State (109) and Minnesota-Duluth (40) to take a first-of-three finish. SCSU piled up eight first-place and 16 top-two finishes on the evening.
Emelia Burris and Katie Lavato opened the meet by placing in the top-four in the 60 meter, with Burris winning the event at 7.75 seconds and Lavato placing fourth as each scored points for SCSU. Lavato and Alexis Fallow each tallied points in the 200 meter, followed up by a dominant Huskies showing in the 400 meters. Makayla Rice, Cassidy Lackovic, Kaylee Gessay and Karla Encarnacion swept the top-four finishes led by Rice' 59.87 second showing.
Leighten Fischer added five team points with a second-place finish in the 600 meter, while Clara Wellhouse and Erica Conrad finished second and fourth respectively in the 1000 meter to score eight more for the Huskies.
St. Cloud State's third event winner came with a Kassye Todd victory in the mile run, finishing the distance in 5:30.11. Not too far behind Todd, Katelin Prinsen finished top-six to add even more to SCSU's score. Isabella Kraft scored four more points in the 3000 meter.
Gracie Elsenpeter won her first of two events in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.27 seconds. The Huskies swept the top three spots in the high jump, led by a Claire Shea win with a 1.60 meter mark followed by Julia Rowles (1.55) and Shantelle Des Marais (1.50).
Elsenpeter and Emma Gauert finished one-two respectively in the pole vault with marks of 3.30 and 3.20 meters. Burris won her second event in the long jump covering 5.77 meters, joined in the top-three by Parker Buske (5.07m).
Buske earned a Huskies win in the triple jump, finishing in first with a 11.79 meter stretch with teammate Maya Taylor landing in second at 11.25 meters. Annie Falardreau placed second in both the shot put and weight throw, while Dominique Buechel (shot put) and Dacoda Zimmerman (weight throw) added points for St. Cloud State with fourth-place field event finishes.
Rounding things out in the Pentathlon, Jocelyn Johnson placed second while Victoria Czech landed sixth.
The Huskies will travel to Mankato next Saturday for the NSIC Indoor Championships.
