St. Cloud State Women's Track and Field athlete Emelia Burris will be competing at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships this week. Burris' qualifying mark of 5.86 meters in the Long Jump earned her a bid to the Championships, which will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama and hosted by the University of Montevallo.
The Championships begin March 11 and run through March 13, with the Long Jump preliminaries and Finals held on March 12 at 5:00 p.m. CST. Burris is ranked No. 12 in the nation in her event.
SCSU has not had a national champion since Heather Miller won the Pentathlon National Championship in 2010. Burris is the first Huskies athlete to earn a bid to the Indoor National Championships since Natalie Gottschalk did so in 2018 competing in the Pentathlon.
