Huskies conclude 2021 Outdoor regular season at Maverick Classic

St. Cloud State Women's Track & Field wraps up their 2021 Outdoor season this Friday, May 7 with a trip to the Maverick Classic in Mankato, Minnesota. Field Events are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. CST with Track Events slated for 4:15 p.m.
The Huskies competed at the NSIC & Friends Outdoor Challenge in Mankato last weekend, taking second in a field of nine teams.
Scheduled Competitors
Dominique Buechel will open the meet by representing the Huskies as their lone thrower in the Discus and Hammer Throw. She ranks No. 14 in the NCAA with a provisionally-qualifying 49.50m Discus toss and threw the Hammer a career-best 50.11m last weekend. Emelia Burris placed second in the Long Jump last weekend while setting a new St. Cloud State program record with a 5.92m leap, and she'll be competing in the event again alongside Maya Taylor and Jocelyn Johnson. Emma Gauert and Gracie Elsenpeter are the Huskies' Pole Vaulters, and Taylor will be the lone SCSU representative in the Triple Jump. Rounding out the Field Events, the fantastic four of Claire Shea, Julia Rowles, Shantelle Des Marais and Johnson will go in the Long Jump.
SCSU will feature a lighter contingent of Track Event competitors, beginning with Clara Welhouse and Isabella Kraft in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase. Elsenpeter and Johnson are the 100 Meter Hurdle representatives, while Katie Lavato will compete in the 100 Meter Dash. The 400 Meter Dash will feature Kaylee Gessay and Cassidy Lackovic, while Leighten Fischer and Katelin Prinsen will go in the 800 Meter Run. Makayla Rice PR'd in the 400 Meter Hurdles last week and will be competing alongside Karla Encarnacion in the event on Friday. Lavato, Des Marais and Gessay will feature in the 200 Meter Dash. Wrapping up the Huskies' scheduled events, Cheresa Bouley, Katherine Todd and Erica Conrad are tabbed to represent SCSU in the 1500 Meter Run.
