QUOTABLES - St. Cloud State Head Coach Sean Holmes
"That was a terrific college soccer game. We came out of the gate fast and scored a terrific goal in the early seconds of the game. That is probably the earliest we've ever scored in the history of our program. Then Northern Michigan played with great intelligence and competitiveness which dominated the rest of the first half. We were happy to go in at 2-1 at half time. I was really pleased with our response in the second half. Again Philip Caputo setting up Miguel Konde Gwo. I thought we attacked with real excitement at 2-2. In a very soccer way, we missed a closed chance and got countered down the field and that's how soccer is. Gage Steiner was terrific in the back. I thought Noah Eklund and Vukota Mastilovic were very strong. Having Charlie Pritchard and Noal Pratumwon pick up injuries then decide to leave the game. At 3-2 we had to chase the game and trying to get a tie out of it and claw back a result. We got exposed to the back for the fourth goal but that is the nature of fighting to play. The real test will be for how we response to the adversity and fight to get a result on Sunday to improve our playoff standings. The real test of our program is how we lengthen our bench and have new guys step up and contribute. I think lots of guys had. We have to remember we are still young and the experience we are gaining will begin to pay off in the short and long term."
