St. Cloud State Men's Soccer Gears up for Two GLIAC Road Tilts

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - St. Cloud State men's soccer (2-6-2, 1-5 GLIAC) will hit the road for one last weekend before finishing out the season at home. The Huskies will travel to Hammond, IN for a rematch against the Purdue Northwest Pride on Friday, October 7 for a 1:00 P.M. CT tilt. Then on Sunday, October 9, SCSU will face off against the Davenport Panthers for the second time this season. The match will kickoff at 11:30 a.m. CT. Sunday's match will be available to stream on Flo Sports while live stats will be available on both the home teams website.Â
The Huskies are coming of their first conference win last weekend. St. Cloud shut out the Upper Iowa Peacocks 2-0 last Sunday (Oct. 2). Rhys Ward and Miguel Konde Gwo each scored a goal for the Huskies. Gage Steiner had his second shut out of the season against the Peacocks earning him GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week. He is currently ranked second in the GLIAC for saves with 29. St. Cloud's shut out of Upper Iowa is the first shut out in conference play in program history.Â

The Huskies face offed against Davenport earlier in season back on September 23. The Huskies fell 4-0 to the Panthers. St. Cloud match upped against Purdue Northwest on September 25. SCSU lead 1-0 until the Pride gained momentum and scored two goals to win 2-1. The Huskies are looking to bounce back against these two opponents this weekend.Â
Scouting Davenport
Davenport (4-5-1, 3-2-1 GLIAC) has a three game winning streak after a 1-1 tie to Norther Michigan (Sept. 18). The Panthers have taken down St. Cloud State 4-0 (Sept. 23), Upper Iowa 3-2 (Sept. 25) and Purdue Northwest 2-1 (Oct. 1). Davenport's goalkeeper Shane Marinkovich currently ranks number one in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for saves with 33. The Panthers forward Matt Whelan ranks second in the GLIAC for goals with six, points with 15, and shots with 30.Â
Scouting Purdue Northwest
Purdue Northwest (4-4-2, 4-2 GLIAC) has won two of their last three games. The Pride won against Upper Iowa 3-0 (Sept. 23) and St. Cloud State 2-1 (Sept. 25). This past weekend they dropped 2-1 against Davenport (Oct. 1). Purdue Northwest's goalkeeper Eligh Williams currently ranks 5th in the GLIAC for saves with 19.Â
