
St. Cloud State Women's Basketball Shuts Down Minnesota Crookston

Katrina Theis led with a career high 36 points
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - It was all St. Cloud State women's basketball team Saturday afternoon. The Huskies nabbed their third consecutive win and second Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) win against Minnesota Crookston. The Huskies put up an impressive 71 points while they held the Golden Eagles to just 51 points on the afternoon. Katrina Theis put up a career high 36 points in St. Cloud's victory.
GAME SUMMARY
Minnesota Crookston may have had the first basket of the game but it was all the Huskies following. St. Cloud went on a five point scoring run to drive the momentum their way. Dru Henning went 3-3 from behind the arc to give the Huskies a 23-15 lead after the first period. During the second period, St. Cloud continued it's scoring drive while holding the Eagles to a .25 shooting percentage to head into the locker up 35-21 at the half. Katrina Theis and Dru Henning put up double-digit scoring in first 20 minutes of play.
Back on the court for the second half, the Huskies held nothing back as they continued to increase their point margin. After a shooting foul on the Eagles, Abigail Groeneweg sank both of her free throws to give the Huskies a 23 point lead. Minnesota Crookston was unable to respond to the Huskies offense as St. Cloud ended the afternoon with a 71-51 victory. Three husky athletes ended the day scoring in the double-digits.

The Huskies will head west for a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) road trip. On Friday, December 9 St. Cloud will take on U-Mary for a 5:30 p.m tip-off. Then on Saturday, December 10 the Huskies will take on Minot State at 3:30 p.m.
