
St. Cloud State Women's Basketball Hits the Road for Two NSIC Match-Ups

Huskies to take on U-Mary & Minot State on the road
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State women's basketball team will head west for a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) two game road trip. The Huskies will take on U-Mary Friday, December 9 and then Minot State on Saturday, December 10.

Friday's game will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. while Saturday's game is set for 3:30 p.m. The NSIC Network will provide the game stream while live stats will be provided on the home institutions schedule page.

A Look Back
Last weekend the Huskies nabbed two conference wins against Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston. St. Cloud had a strong performance against Bemidji State holding them to just 23.4 shooting percentage from the floor. The Huskies closed the evening with a 68-42 victory over the Beavers. Katrina Theis had a strong performance putting up a double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds.

On Saturday, the Huskies had a dominating performance over Minnesota Crookston. Dru Henning went 3-3 from behind the arc in the first period while the defense held UMC to a .25 shooting percentage in the first half to head into the locker room 35-21. In the second half, the Huskies continued to dominate the game heading home with a 71-51 victory. Once again Katrina Theis had another dominating performance. The fifth-year senior put a career high 36 points going 17-19 from the floor with eight rebounds.

NSIC Player of the Week
For her dominating performance last week, Katrina Theis is the first athlete to earn NSIC North Division Player of the Week honors. The fifth year senior averaged 29.5 points per game, 11.5 rebounds per game, 3 steals and 2.5 assists in St. Cloud's win over BSU and UMC. Theis led the NSIC in scoring and rebounding and was second in field goal percentage last week. The fifth-year senior went 26-32 over the weekend for a 81% shooting percentage. Â

U-Mary Marauders
The U-Mary Marauders are off to a 4-2, 3-0 NSIC start. U-Mary has three conference wins over Northern State 70-57 (Dec. 1), MSU Moorhead 83-75 (Dec. 3), and Minot State 61-44 (Dec. 6). U-Mary's Megan Zander currently ranks 6th in the NSIC for scoring averaging 16.3 points per game. In addition, Zander won the NDPF U-Mary Athlete of the Week for her 23-point performance against MSU Moorhead and her double-double against Northern State.
Minot State Beavers
Minot State opens with a 5-4, 1-2 NSIC record. The Beavers have conference losses to MSU Moorhead 57-33 (Dec. 1) and U-Mary 61-44 (Dec. 6) with their win coming against Northern State 67-66 (Dec. 3). Minot's Kate Head ranks 7th in the NSIC for scoring, averaging 15.9 points per game. The senior guard has posted double-digit scoring in seven out of nine games for the Beavers.
