
St. Cloud State Women's Basketball Rings in New Year with a Pair of NSIC Match-Ups

Huskies host MSU Moorhead & Northern State
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State women's basketball team will ring in the new year with Minnesota State Moorhead and Northern State for a pair of NSIC matchups. The Huskies will play on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 in Halenbeck Hall.

Saturday and Sunday's game will tip-off at 1:00 p.m. The NSIC Network will provide the stream while Steve Linzmeier, the voice of the Huskies, will provide audio on the Varsity Network app. Live stats will be available on the St. Cloud State women's basketball schedule page.

Saturday's promotion includes a t-shirt giveaway to the first 25 fans in attendance. Sunday's promotion is a winter coat drive. Bring a winter coat in for a donation and receive $5.00 off your ticket.

A Look Back
The Huskies traveled up to Duluth and took on the UMD Bulldogs back on December 18th. St. Cloud opened with a slow start to the game with UMD taking charge and holding the lead. The Huskies rallied back to bring the game within six points at half. During the second half of play, Huskies trailed 35-34 with 3:45 left in the third period. However, foul trouble hit the Huskies lineup and they were unable to hold off the Bulldogs as they fell 64-55.

St. Cloud State Huskies
The Huskies currently sit at 7-3 overall, 4-2 in NSIC play. In the NSIC standings, St. Cloud is second in the north division while sitting sixth overall. Jada Eggebrecht and Katrina Theis currently lead the Huskies scoring 14.5 and 14.3 points per game. Theis is averaging 8.2 rebounds per game which ranks her third in the NSIC and was named the NSIC North Division Player of the Week back on Dec. 5. The Huskies defense ranks third in the NSIC surrendering 56.2 points per game.

Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons
MSU-Moorhead is 6-3 overall, 3-2 in NSIC play. A few weeks ago, the Dragons claimed a pair of conference wins over Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston. Moorhead's third conference win is against Minot State while they have fallen to Northern State and UMary. Junior guard Mariah McKeever currently leads the Dragons in scoring averaging 15.3 points per game and was named NSIC North Division Player of Week on Dec. 12.

MSU Moorhead's defense ranks first in the NSIC averaging 55.6 points per game to their opponents. With the Huskies defense ranked third, the top defenses in the league will go head–to-head this weekend. Additionally, the top two athletes with the best field goal percentage in the NSIC will face off this weekend. MSU's Payton Bloom shoots a .596 while St. Cloud's Katrina Theis trails just behind shooting a .566 from the field.Â
Northern State Wolves
Northern State sits at 7-4 overall, 2-3 in NSIC play. The Wolves have a pair of conference wins over MSU-Moorhead and Bemidji State while they have fallen against UMary, Minot State and Minnesota Crookston. Redshirt junior forward Kailee Oliverson currently leads the Wolves in scoring averaging 11.9 points per game while junior guard Rianna Fillipi leads the NSIC in assists and senior forward Laurie Rogers ranks 2nd in the NSIC in blocked shots averaging 2.1 per game.
