
St. Cloud State Women's Basketball Opens Weekend Downing WSU

Head Coach Lori Fish earns 300th career win
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - It was a milestone moment for St. Cloud State women's basketball head coach Lori Fish as she achieved her 300th career win with the Huskies 58-43 victory over Winona State Friday evening at Halenbeck Hall. In addition, the Huskies defense showed why it is the number two scoring defense in the NSIC as St. Cloud held WSU scoreless during the entire second period.
GAME SUMMARY
St. Cloud State opened up cooking right outta the gate. The Huskies went on a 12-2 run in the first six minutes of the opening period until a late surge by Winona State would make it a one point game to end the period 12-11 in favor of SCSU. Little did the Warriors know that their basket at the 1:27 mark of the first period would be their last until 9:04 of the third period. The Huskies stonewalled Winona State in the second period where they didn't make a single basket to shoot 0%. St. Cloud entered the locker up 24-11 over WSU and held the Warriors to just a .278 shooting percentage for the first half.
Despite Winona State out scoring St. Cloud 14-13 in the third period, the Huskies were still able hold a double-digit lead over the Warriors to close the period up 37-25. SCSU continued its offensive attack in the fourth period adding 21 more points to the board with a 20 point lead over the Warriors with just 1:15 left in regulation. Winona State was unable to slow the Huskies down as SCSU shot a .714 percent going 10-14 from the field. St. Cloud ended the evening with a 58-43 victory.

The Huskies will take on Upper Iowa at Halenbeck Hall tomorrow Jan. 14. The game is set for a 3:30 p.m. tip-off.

- Katrina Theis may have had a slow first half with only four points but lit up during the second adding 18 points to close out the night with 22 total points going 11-21 from the field. Additionally, Theis nabbed eight rebounds, two steals, and one block
- Jada Eggebrecht added 12 points, four assists, three rebounds, and one block
- Ashley Sawicki closed with eight points and one rebound
