
St. Cloud State Women's Basketball Bounces Back Against CSP

Huskies down the Bears 69-49, T. Peschel enters record book
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The St. Cloud State women's basketball team bounced back and dominated Concordia St. Paul Golden Bears 69-49 Saturday afternoon at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, MN. The Huskies shot .48 from the field with ten athletes adding points to the board, two scoring in the double-digits, and one entering the Huskies record book.
GAME SUMMARY
The first few minutes of the first period were close contests as Concordia tied the game twice until the Huskies took over to out score the Golden Bears 17-8 and held them to just .214 shooting. Despite the Huskies leading by double-digits in the second period, CSP managed to keep the scoring margin much closer as St. Cloud just barely out scored the Bears 18-17. St. Cloud ended the half leading 35-25. Jada Eggebrecht led with 13 points while Tori Peschel nabbed ten rebounds.
The third period was slow for the Huskies as the Bears were able to bring the score back within five points as St. Cloud struggled to execute their shots shooting only .20 percent from the field. Concordia was looking to end the third just five points behind the Huskies as they hit a last second three-pointer. The shot went to review and luck favored the Huskies as the Bears were unable to beat the clock and St. Cloud ended the period leading 45-37. The fourth period belonged to the Huskies as they went on a 20-5 scoring point run to go up 24 points for a 66-42 lead over the Bears. St. Cloud shot .615 percent from the field while holding CSP to a .25 shooting percent during the final period. The Huskies ended the day with a 69-49 victory over Concordia St. Paul.
TOP HUSKIES
- Tori Peschel entered the Huskies record book this afternoon. The junior guard is tied for second for most rebounds in a single game with 17 rebounds. She shares the record with teammate Katrina Theis who had 17 against UMary back in 2019. Ten of Peschel's 17 rebounds came in the first half of the game. Additionally, she was just three points short of a double-double closing the day with seven points and four assists
- Jada Eggebrecht led scoring with 19 points, four assists, and two rebounds
- Katrina Theis closed with 15 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks
- Kelsey Peschel added eight points, two assists, and one block

The Huskies are back in Halenbeck Hall next weekend. St. Cloud will host Winona State on Friday, Jan. 13 and Upper Iowa Saturday, Jan. 14. Friday's game will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. while Saturday is set for 3:30 p.m.
