Destiny Baughman wins Triple Jump to highlight strong day in Moorhead
MOORHEAD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Track & Field saw seven student-athletes record personal bests while claiming one event title – Destiny Baughman in the Triple Jump – in a strong day of competition at the Ron Masanz Classic in Moorhead on Saturday.
The Huskies distance group opened things up with a great showing in the 1500 Meter as Clara Welhouse (4:52.49) took third, Cheresa Bouley (4:55.52) and Greta Freed (5:02.63) placed seven-eight while both Cambrie Kowal (5:14.28) and Erica Conrad (5:18.21) landed in the top 20. Shelby Romig (15.46s) finished seventh in the 100 Meter Hurdles, followed by an Ainhoa Toquero (16.26s) PR in the top 11. Brooklyn Brouse (58.58s) and Mariana Guerra-Reese (1:00.42) both PR'd in the 400 Meter to take second and fourth respectively, then Katie Lavato (12.69s) earned a fifth-place finish in the 100 Meter as Ava Wilmanns ran a personal best 13.73s and Sydney Rustad added a 13.95s to both land in the top 15. Makaylin Christenson kept the PR's rolling with a 2:34.00 finish In the 800 Meter for eighth while Jaileen Medina joined her in the top 10 with a 2:40.63 time. Lavato (26.12s) and Romig (28.11s) wrapped up the running events by finishing runner-up and 10th respectively in the 200 Meter.
Destiny Baughman headlined the SCSU performance in the field by winning the Triple Jump with a 10.59m leap while Julia Rowles recorded a runner-up clear of 1.63m in the High Jump and Ainhoa Toquero soared over a personal best 1.58m to mark fifth. Baughman led the Long Jump group with a seventh-place 5.06m mark, joined by Toquero (4.76m) and Ava Wilmanns (4.50m) in the top 14 as the latter recorded her second-straight PR in the event. Dacoda Zimmerman represented the Huskies in the throws, taking seventh in the Shot Put with a 12.03m toss.
