
Three event wins, eight personal bests highlight stellar Huskies performance at Maverick Open #1

Cheresa Bouley, Paola Brena and Mariana Guerra-Reese each win events to headline SCSU effort
MANKATO, Minn. – Cheresa Bouley won the Steeplechase, Paola Brena claimed the High Jump crown while Mariana Guerra-Reese won the 800 Meter as St. Cloud State Track & Field saw eight student-athletes record personal bests in a strong showing at the Maverick Open #1 on Wednesday evening in Mankato.
Cheresa Bouley (11:32.02) was the first of two running event wins for St. Cloud State, finishing one-two in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase with Clara Welhouse (11:46.53) while Erica Conrad added a PR of 12:18.08 for seventh. Katie Lavato ran a personal best of 12.50s in the 100 Meter Prelims – joined in the PR department by Sydney Rustad (13.81s) – then bested it again with a 12.48s run in the Finals for seventh. Shelby Romig ran a 15.20s time in the 100 Hurdles Prelims to qualify for the Final, going on to take sixth at 15.31s as Ainhoa Toquero provided a 16.03s PR in the prelims. Mariana Guerra-Reese (2:19.72) won the 800 Meter alongside a 2:35.10 PR ran by Jaileen Medina for a top-12 finish while Brooklyn Brouse (1:05.28) and Makaylin Christenson (1:09.35) closed out the running events by taking seventh and 13th in the 400 Hurdles.
Kasey Parish opened the field performance by taking third in the Javelin with a 36.53m launch. Destiny Baughman (5.25m) and Ava Wilmanns (4.84m) PR'd to highlight the Long Jump group while the former added a sixth-place Triple Jump mark of 10.93m to go with her eighth-place finish in the long. Paola Brena won the High Jump with a 1.72m clear, followed by Julia Rowles (1.62m) and Ainhoa Toquero (1.57m) at No. 7 and 9. Dacoda Zimmerman provided a top-10 mark in the Shot Put with a season best of 12.30m.
