Brena earns All-NSIC honors as Huskies close season at NSIC Championships

Paola Brena earns Second Team All-NSIC honors with runner-up mark in High Jump

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Graduate jumper Paola Brena earned All-NSIC in the High Jump to headline five Huskies scorers as St. Cloud State Track & Field closed their season at the NSIC Outdoor Championships at Sea Foam Stadium in St. Paul this week. Brena was joined by Julia Rowles on the podium in the High Jump while Cheresa Bouley and Clara Welhouse scored in the Steeplechase and Kasey Parish landed on the podium in the Javelin. The Huskies scored 19.0 team points to finish 12^th at the conference meet and produced four personal bests throughout the week's competition.

Ainhoa Toquero opened things up with the Heptathlon, earning a top 16 finish with 3,942 points and scoring PR's in the High Jump and Long Jump. Greta Freed (41:13.19) and Cambrie Kowal (41:27.53) each placed in the top 17 of the 10,000 Meter to begin the running events on Friday, followed by a stellar showing in the Steeplechase – Cheresa Bouley (11:26.63) and Clara Welhouse (11:36.37) went six-seven in the event while Erica Conrad (12:19.30) earned a top 17 finish. Shelby Romig (15.28s) and Katie Lavato (12.54s) placed No. 14 and 15 respectively in the 100 Meter Hurdles and 100 Meter. Mariana Guerra-Reese (2:16.96) PR'd in the 800 Meter to take 11^th while Brooklyn Brouse (1:05.23) placed 11^th in the 400 Meter Hurdles.

Paola Brena cleared a personal best 1.75m in the High Jump for a runner-up mark, earning Second Team All-NSIC honors. Julia Rowles joined her on the podium by taking seventh with a 1.63m clear. Dacoda Zimmerman placed 14^th in the Shot Put with a 12.52m mark and followed with a 45.59m toss in the Hammer Throw to take 12^th.

Saturday's competition featured Kasey Parish marking 36.10m in the Javelin for fifth, followed by the 4x400 Meter Relay team of Mariana Guerra-Reese, Brooklyn Brouse, Makaylin Christenson and Katie Lavato running 4:01.90 for ninth. Parker Buske closed her illustrious career with a top 16 mark in the Triple Jump.
