Sioux Falls, S.D.- St. Cloud State Tennis (4-11, 2-8 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) was defeated 4-0 by Augustana in the first round of the NSIC Tournament Friday afternoon. The Vikings captured the doubles point with two wins and then clinched the match with three singles victories.

Doubles
The Vikings took a 1-0 lead after winning the first two doubles matches. In the No. 3 position, the senior duo of Mamiko Yamaguchi (Tokyo, Japan) and Maria Molitor (Delano, Minn.) were defeated 6-1 by Gabriela Jancikova and Simone Karaouza. Augustana captured the doubles point after Senem Ocal and Smilte Baktye defeated junior Claudia Muñoz Perez (Tarragona, Spain) and freshman Brooklyn Broadwell (Thief River Falls, Minn.) 6-0.

Holding a 1-0 lead, Augustana would win the first three matches in straight sets to clinch the victory. Aleksandra Kistanova defeated Broadwell 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 spot to put the Vikings up 2-0. Mia Garcia gave Augustana a 3-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Molitor. Ocal gave the Vikings the clinching point as she defeated junior Maria Paz Aoki (Marcos Paz, Argentina) 6-0, 6-0 as Augustana defeated St. Cloud State 4-0, ending their season.
