
Holmes Named NSIC Player of the Week

Sophomore infielder led the Huskies offense during undefeated weekend to close regular season
BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Sophomore infielder Brooke Holmes (Savage, Minn./Prior Lake) (Savage, Minn.) was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday. It is her second weekly conference award of the season and of her career after earning the honor Feb. 24. She is the only Husky to earn weekly honors this season.
Holmes led the Huskies offense in many statistical categories during their 4-0 weekend to close out the regular season. She hit .533 (8-for-15) and owned a .533 on-base percentage and 1.200 slugging percentage for an OPS of 1.733. She posted four extra base hits including three home runs and one double and did not strike out in her 15 at-bats.
The sophomore tallied a hit in all four games and multiple hits in three games including a 3-for-3 performance in SCSU's 4-1 win over Minot State on Saturday. She drove in nine runs on the weekend, including all four of the Huskies runs in their 4-2 win over UMary, setting a new single game career best for RBI. She is currently on an 11-game hitting/on-base streak.
NSIC Release
SCSU earned the No. 4 seed in the NSIC Tournament and begins postseason play on Thursday, May 1 against No. 5 seed Minnesota Duluth (38-16, 18-8) in an NSIC Tournament Quarterfinal tilt. First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Bowden Field in Sioux Falls on the campus of Augustana. Links to each coverage option will be available on the SCSU Softball schedule page.
