Huskies travel to St. Thomas for Tommie Indoor Invitational Friday
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Track & Field will begin the new year in St. Paul for the Tommie Indoor Invitational, hosted by St. Thomas at the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex (AARC) on Friday. Field events are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. with running events to follow at 4:45 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
St. Cloud State Track & Field closed out 2025 at The Opener, hosted by St. Scholastica at the Burns Wellness Commons in Duluth on December 13. The Huskies recorded three event wins, 16 new personal bests and four season's best marks in their final meet of the first semester.
Sophomore Lauren Woelfel (Becker, Minn.) won the pole vault after clearing 3.60m/11-9.75, which was new personal best height by 0.09m, freshman Brianna Schneider won the shot put after recording a huge personal best of 12.18m/39-11.50 and sophomore distance runner Abbygail Nunez (South St. Paul, Minn.) won the 800 meters (2:32.88). Nunez also ran a new personal best in the mile (5:33.08) to finish second.
The Huskies advanced four athletes to the 60 meters final – junior jumper/sprinter Myesha Thompson (Mount Horeb, Wis.), sophomore jumper/sprinter Zaria Stapleton (Nassau, Bahamas), graduate jumper Elena Martinez-Rodriguez (Madrid, Spain) and freshman Efe Ottah – while three recorded new personal bests – Thompson (7.91), freshman Aliyah Horton (8.47) and senior sprinter/jumper Ava Wilmanns (Cedarburg, Wis.) (8.57). In the finals, Thompson finished third, Stapleton tied her personal best from last week (8.00) to finish fifth and Martinez-Rodriguez tied her season best from the prelims (8.14) to finish sixth.
Thompson also finished second in the long jump, Stapleton was fourth after leaping a career best 5.16m/16-11.25, Horton was seventh after jumping a career best 4.93m/16-2.25 and Wilmanns jumped a season's best 4.84m/15-10.50.
Martinez-Rodriguez tied her high jump personal best that she set last weekend (1.55m/5-1) to finish second. Horton (28.93) and junior hurdler/pole vaulter/jumper Olivia Witt (Delano, Minn.) (31.24) each set personal bests in the 200 meters. Witt also set a personal best in the 60 hurdles, after running 10.82. Freshman Addison Lauwagie cleared a personal best height in the pole fault (3.20m/10-6) to finish second.
Sophomore thrower Kim Feller (East Helena, Mont.) recorded a new personal best in the weight throw (14.15m/46-5.25). In the mile, freshman distance runner Jocie Wheeler (Annandale, Minn.) set a new personal best (5:53.85) and sophomore distance runner MerriAnna Johnson (Osceola, Wis.) set a new season best time (6:03.10).
The quartet of junior sprinter Jenna Marxhausen (Two Harbors, Minn.), Ottah, freshman Abby Kennedy and Lauwagie set a new season best time in the 4x400 relay (4:14.14).

NSIC ATHLETES TO WATCH
Sophomore thrower Kim Feller (East Helena, Mont.) and sophomore sprinter Zaria Stapleton (Nassau, Bahamas) were named the preseason athletes to watch by the NSIC.
Feller, the Huskies field athlete to watch, competes in the weight throw and shot put during the indoor season and has personal bests of 11.55m/37-10.75 and 8.97m/29-5.25 respectively.
"Kim has really developed physically over the past year," said third year head coach Gabrielle Brown. "She's stronger, more explosive, and confident in her technique. That growth is showing in every throw, and I think she's ready to turn that progress into big results."
Stapleton, the Huskies track athlete to watch, competes in the 60 meters, the 200 and long jump during indoors and comes into the season with personal bests of 8.05, 27.47 (indoor) and 4.90m/16-1 respectively.
"Last year Zaria was learning what it takes at this level; now she is locked in as she has gained clarity and experience," said Brown. "Zaria has brought a different kind of focus and energy, you can tell she's ready to make some noise in the sprints and jumps."

SCSU Track & Field was picked to finish 15th in the 2025-26 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Indoor Track & Field Preseason Coaches' Poll as announced by the league office on December 4. The Huskies finished 14th at the 2024-25 NSIC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
"What excites me most about this group is the balance we have, with a talented freshman class that's eager to learn, a sophomore group that's starting to hit their stride and upperclassmen who've really embraced leadership," said third year head coach Gabrielle Brown. "You can feel the energy and unity."

SCHEDULE RELEASE
St. Cloud State Track & Field has announced its complete schedule ahead of the 2025-26 season. The Huskies will compete in nine regular season meets during the indoor and outdoor seasons before the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Championships on Feb. 27-28 (indoor) and May 7-9 (outdoor).
Complete 2025-26 SCSU Track & Field Schedule
All 10 indoor meets are in Minnesota and the NSIC Indoor Track & Field Championships will be hosted by Minnesota State at Myers Field House in Mankato. Six of the 10 outdoor meets are out-of-state with the team taking trips to Iowa (three times), Kansas, Missouri and North Dakota. The NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be hosted in Duluth by Minnesota Duluth at Malosky Stadium.
The Huskies open the indoor season with two meets before winter break, traveling to Minneapolis for the M City Classic (Dec. 5) and Duluth for the The Opener (Dec. 13.) When SCSU returns from break, they begin a stretch of eight straight weeks of meets beginning in St. Paul for back-to-back weekends – Tommie Indoor Invitational (Jan. 16) and the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic (Jan. 24) before the team splits up to go to the St. Olaf Invitational & Multi (Jan. 30-31) and the CSB Quad (Jan. 31) to close out January. To open February, the Huskies head to the Gopher Classic (Feb. 7), CSB Invitational (Feb. 14) and Snowshoe Open (Feb. 20) before the indoor season culminates with the NSIC Championships (Feb. 27-28) in Mankato.
After getting two weekends off after indoor season, SCSU opens its outdoor season with four out-of-state meets starting in Missouri at the Miner Invitational (March 20-21) before heading to Kansas (ESU Spring Open – March 27), Iowa (Luther Invitational – April 3) and North Dakota (NDSU Spring Classic – April 10). The Huskies then return to Minnesota for the first time during the outdoor season to compete in Collegeville (CSB Invitational – April 18) and Minneapolis (Gary Wilson Invitational - April 22). SCSU then splits up in Des Moines, Iowa for the Viking Classic (April 24) and the Drake Relays (April 24-26) before closing out the regular season in St. Paul (Meet of the UnSaintly – May 1). The NSIC Outdoor Championships will be in Duluth May 7-9.
