Liliana Ruy Sánchez Mendivil Named NSIC Player of the Week Following 1-1 Weekend for Huskies

Sánchez Mendivil went 4-0 across singles and doubles
Burnsville, MN. – St. Cloud State Tennis Freshman Liliana Ruy Sánchez Mendivil was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Player of the Week as announced by the league office Tuesday morning. Sánchez Mendivil went 4-0 across singles and doubles playing in the No. 1 spot for both.
Against Bemidji State on Saturday, the freshman produced a 6-3 doubles win with Lara-Maria Schaefer in the No. 1 doubles spot. She then added a 6-3, 6-3 straight set win in the No. 1 singles spot.
In the Huskies 5-2 win over Minnesota Duluth on Sunday, Sánchez Mendivil and Schaefer captured a convincing 6-2 doubles win in the No. 1 slot. She then added another straight set singles win in the No. 1 singles slot.
Sánchez Mendivil and Schaefer sit at 3-1 as a doubles duo having exclusively played in the No. 1 spot. The freshman also sits at 3-1 in singles having also played strictly in the No. 1 spot. All of her singles wins have been in straight sets.
She is the first Husky to receive the honor since Gibby Chapman did last season (Mar. 10).
