St. Cloud State Softball Has Seven-Game Win Streak Snapped, Drops Pair in Second Day at Space Coast Spring Games

Huskies fall to Findlay, Southern New Hampshire
TITUSVILLE, Fla. – St. Cloud State Softball (11-3, 0-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) had its seven-game win streak snapped, falling in both games in its second day at the Space Coast Spring Games at the Chain of Lakes Softball Complex in Titusville. The Huskies fell to Findlay (Ohio) 2-0 in game one and Southern New Hampshire 5-4 (8 inn.) in game two.
GAME ONE: FINDLAY 2, ST. CLOUD STATE 0
Findlay (5-1, 0-0 Great Midwest Athletic Conference) opened the scoring with an RBI-single in the third inning followed by an RBI-double in the top of the fifth. Base runners were hard to come by for the Huskies, who recorded just three hits and one walk.
TOP HUSKIES
The game went into extra innings tied at zero after both teams struggled to get their bats going during the first seven innings. To start the extra inning, sophomore infielder Grace Dahmen (Jordan, Minn.) was placed on second base and freshman outfielder Rowan Jansen (St. Louis Park, Minn.) hit a leadoff single. In the next at bat, Dahmen was put out at second base after SCSU attempted a sacrifice bunt. Holmes drew a one-out walk to load the bases but Jansen was thrown out at home after a weak chopper was hit to the pitcher. With the bases still loaded and two outs, Roe delivered a grand slam to give the Huskies a 4-0 lead. Southern New Hampshire (1-0, 0-0 Northeast-10 Conference) responded with five runs in the home half of the eighth inning including a walk-off two-RBI single.

The Huskies are off on Monday and return to action at the Space Coast Spring Games on Tuesday against Tiffin (Ohio) (3-3, 0-0 Great Midwest Athletic Conference) and Cedarville (Ohio) (0-8. 0-0 G-MAC) at the Space Coast Complex in Melbourne, Fla.
