St. Cloud State Softball Ranked Seventh in Second NCAA Region Rankings

Huskies are one of two NSIC teams ranked in top 10 of NCAA Central Region
INDIANAPOLIS – St. Cloud State Softball (40-12, 22-4 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) was ranked No. 7 in the second NCAA Division II Softball Regional Rankings, as announced by the organization on Wednesday. The Huskies were one of two NSIC teams ranked, joining Winona State in the second set of three rankings.
St. Cloud State is looking to make its 10th trip to the NCAA Tournament and first since 2019. The Huskies have four remaining regular season games before postseason play begins and are currently tied for first in the NSIC. The NSIC Softball Tournament is set for May 6-9 at Bowden Field in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; hosted by Augustana University. The top ten teams in the NSIC standings will participate in the single elimination tournament.
The 40-team NCAA Central Region is made up of teams from the NSIC, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and the Great American Conference (GAC). Automatic bids are awarded to the tournament champions from each conference with the final five spots awarded on an at-large basis.
The championship provides for a field of 64 teams. Four teams will participate at each of 16 regional sites in a double elimination tournament. The 16 teams advancing from regional competition will participate in a two-team, best-of-three super regional at eight sites. The finals will include the eight super regional winners. The national champion will be determined in a best-of-three final series. The NCAA Championships are set for May 28 to June 3 at Frost Stadium at Warner Park, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The NCAA softball selections will be announced on www.NCAA.com on Monday, May 11.

The Huskies return home for their final weekend of regular season play next weekend against Minnesota Duluth (29-20, 14-12 NSIC) and Bemidji State (10-39, 4-22 NSIC). The Huskies take on the Bulldogs on Saturday and Bemidji State on Sunday for Senior Day (the team's three seniors and BSU's seniors will be honored in between games). Both doubleheaders are scheduled for noon and 2 p.m. at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud. Links to each coverage option can be found on the SCSU Softball game day central or schedule page.
