No. 25 St. Cloud State Softball Ranked Sixth in Third NCAA Central Region Rankings

Huskies are one of two NSIC teams ranked in top 10 of NCAA Central Region
INDIANAPOLIS – No. 25 St. Cloud State Softball (44-12, 26-4 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) was ranked No. 6 in the third NCAA Division II Softball Regional Rankings, as announced by the organization on Wednesday. The Huskies were one of two NSIC teams ranked, joining Winona State in the third and final set of rankings.
St. Cloud State is looking to make its 10th trip to the NCAA Tournament and first since 2019. The Huskies earned the No. 2 seed in the NSIC Softball Tournament and will open postseason play in the quarterfinals against the No. 7 seed Minot State at 3 p.m. on Thursday at Bowden Field (Augustana) in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The 40-team NCAA Central Region is made up of teams from the NSIC, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and the Great American Conference (GAC). Automatic bids are awarded to the tournament champions from each conference with the final five spots awarded on an at-large basis.
The championship provides for a field of 64 teams. Four teams will participate at each of 16 regional sites in a double elimination tournament. The 16 teams advancing from regional competition will participate in a two-team, best-of-three super regional at eight sites. The finals will include the eight super regional winners. The national champion will be determined in a best-of-three final series. The NCAA Championships are set for May 28 to June 3 at Frost Stadium at Warner Park, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
