Jacob Sanders joined the St. Cloud State External Operations staff in August 2023 as the Athletics Communications Graduate Assistant, was named the interim Assistant Director of Athletics Communications in March 2024 and had his interim tag removed, becoming the Assistant Director of Athletics Communications in January 2025. Sanders is the primary contact for women's hockey, volleyball, softball, cross country and track & field. A Nevada, Iowa native, Sanders has worked with eight Husky teams, including men's soccer, men's basketball and women's basketball in addition to his current duties with women's hockey, volleyball, softball and cross country/track & field.
In Sanders' time at St. Cloud State, he has covered two straight NCAA Tournament appearances for the volleyball team, including a trip to the Regional Final (Sweet 16) in 2024 and a pair of NSIC Championships, as the team won regular season and tournament titles in 2024. He also led the publicity for Kenzie Foley's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II National Player of the Year and the Division-II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Ron Lenz National Player of the Year campaign in 2023.
Prior to coming to SCSU, Sanders served as an Athletics Communications Student Worker/Summer Intern for two years under the guidance of College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Hall of Famer, Larry Happel, and Joe Flaherty at his alma mater, Central College, in Pella, Iowa.
An active member of College Sports Communicators since 2021, Sanders is responsible for nominating Husky student-athletes for the CSC Academic All-America® program. In his two years, St. Cloud State athletes have received Academic All-America® honors four times. He attended his first CSC Unite Convention in June 2025 in Orlando, Florida.
A native of Nevada, Iowa, Sanders graduated from Nevada High School in May 2019 where he was a four-sport athlete (cross country, basketball, soccer and track & field). He went on to earn his B.A. in business management with an emphasis in marketing from Central in May 2023. Sanders was a four-year letter winner and captain on the cross country and track & field teams and served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as one of Central's representatives on the American Rivers Conference (ARC) committee. He earned his M.S. in sports management from St. Cloud State in May 2025.
Sanders and his fiancée, Lauren, reside in Sartell with their golden retriever, Millie.
