Bio
2023: In her fourth season with the Huskies, Nelson appeared in 25 games with one start as the designated player. She tallied five hits in 20 at-bats with four RBIs and an .423 on-base percentage. Additionally, she was named an NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction award winner and an NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence member.
2022: In her third season with the Huskies, Nelson appeared in 22 games with one start as the designated player. She tallied three hits during the season, including two clutch pinch hits to help St. Cloud State come back to beat UMary on April 2. Nelson hit the go-ahead double in the Huskies 8-5 win in game one before her walkoff home run in game two secured a 3-2 victory over the Mauraders. Nelson earned Academic All-Conference honors and was named to the NSIC Academic Team of Excellence.
2021: In her second season with St. Cloud State, Nelson appeared in five games, primarily as a pinch hitter. She recorded the first hit of her collegiate career against Upper Iowa on April 25.
2020: As a freshman, Nelson appeared in six games as a pinch hitter for the Huskies.
High School: Nelson comes to St. Cloud State from West Fargo, N.D. where she put together an impressive career at Shanley. A varsity contributor since her seventh-grade season, Nelson compiled a career batting average of .394 and was named the North Dakota Athlete of the Year after her senior season in 2019. She also put together a career slugging and on base percentage of .556 and .541 in five years with the varsity program and earned multiple honors, including team MVP, Most Improved and Most Dedicated honors. Off the field, she was a member of the honor roll, National Honors Society (NHS), and is both a student ambassador and student management.
Personal: Nelson chose St. Cloud State because of her connection to the program and the opportunities both on and off the softball field. She plans to major in in special education with a minor in coaching.
