Huskies Open NSIC Tournament With Win Over UIU

The St. Cloud State University women's tennis team (17-11) advanced to the semifinals of the 2013 NSIC women;s tennis championships on April 20 with a 6-0 win over Upper Iowa. The match was played today at the Lifetime Fitness Center in Minnetonka.
The Huskies swept all three doubles postions to start the match and then added wins at first singles by Cassandra Brown, at second singles by Katie Kotschevar and at sixth singles by Tori Marlton to clinch the 6-0 win.
Since this is tournament play, the match is concluded once one team clinches the decisive win in the match. The matches at third, fourth and fifth singles were unfinished.
The Huskies will now advance to play Winona State in the semi's of the NSIC tournament at 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 21 at the LifeTIme Fitness Center in Minnetonka. In the other first round matches, top seed Augustana played Sioux Falls and Minnesota State will play Northern State. The winners of those two matches will meet up in the other semi-final bout. The title match is slated for Noon on Sunday, April 21.
