SCSU Softball Splits Doubleheader vs. Mankato

St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud State softball team hosted Minnesota State University, Mankato in a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) games this afternoon. The Huskies finished with a 2-1 win in game one and a 3-6 loss in game two.
St. Cloud State now stands and 18-12 overall and 4-2 in the NSIC. The Mavericks now move to 17-13 and 2-2 in the NSIC.
Game One:
The Huskies went into eight innings with the Mavericks in game one. With the score tied, Megan Hedstrom (Palatine, Ill.) hit a homerun in the bottom of the eight to grab the win for St. Cloud State.
Tricia DeBoer (Blooming Prairie, Minn.) had three at bats with two hits. DeBoer hit a double in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Kelly Franks (Stevens Point, Wis.) pitched seven innings for the Huskies. Franks gave up six hits, three walks, and recorded nine strikeouts.
The Huskies recorded nine hits and 29 at bats.
Game Two:
Tricia DeBoer (Blooming Prairie, Minn.) went two for three again from behind the plate.
Jordin Novak (Coon Rapids, Minn.) hit a double in the in the bottom of the second for the Huskies. Novak finished with one putout and two assists.
Senna Francesconi (Schomberg, Ontario) pitched five innings for St. Cloud State. Francesconi recorded three strikeouts, gave up seven hits, and walked one batter.
The Huskies scored their only runs in the bottom of the second.
St. Cloud State will return to action on Tuesday, Mar. 31 as they take on Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D. The Wolves are 17-10 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
