SCSU Splits in Doubleheader vs. Northern State

Aberdeen, SD – The St. Cloud State softball team matched up against the Wolves of Northern State in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) doubleheader in Aberdeen, S.D. this afternoon.
The Huskies defeated the Wolves 3-0 in game one and fell in five innings in game two, 0-9.
St. Cloud State now stand at 19-13 overall and 5-3 in the conference. Northern State is currently 18-11 overall and 5-1 in the NSIC.
Game One:
Alyssa Coletto (Aurora, Ill.) doubled to left field in the third inning allowing Megan Lehnen (Burnsville, Minn.) to score. In the fifth inning, Jessica Goerger (Mankato, Minn.) hit a single which scored Abby Bunnell (Maple Grove, Minn.) and Taige Thoreson (St. Charles, Minn.).
Jessica Goerger (Mankato, Minn.) finished with one hit, two RBI, and five putouts.
Kelly Franks (Stevens Point, Wis.) pitched all seven innings for the Huskies. Franks gave up only four hits, walked three batters, and struck out nine.
Game Two:
Northern State score three runs in the third inning and six runs in the fourth inning to defeat St. Cloud State.
The Huskies finished the second game with a total of three hits from Alyssa Coletto, Tricia DeBoer, and Megan Lehnen (Burnsville, Minn.).
Senna Francesconi (Schomberg, Ontario) pitched three innings for the Huskies. Francesconi gave up six hits, three runs, and walked two batters.
St. Cloud State will return to action this weekend as they face off against Upper Iowa and Winona State. Upper Iowa is currently 8-17 overall and 3-1 in the NSIC. Winona State is currently 24-7 overall and 6-0 in the conference.
