St. Cloud State Huskies Upset Winona State in Final Minutes

The St. Cloud State Women's Soccer Team (3-1-2, 2-0-2 NSIC) took down Winona State (5-2, 2-2 NSIC) with a 1-0 final score on Sat. Sept. 26.
In a classic NSIC defensive battle, SCSU rallied late in the game when freshman midfiled, Alexa Starr, scored her first goal of her college career, giving SCSU a 1-0 lead with just over 6 minutes to play. Lone assist was awarded to fellow freshman, Maria Kass. The Huskies played strong defense for the remainer of the game, holding off Winona State and picking up their second conference win.
Both goalies were tested throughout the game with both teams having strong offensive performences. SCSU's Brittany Plombon was the goalie of record for SCSU with a shutout and four saves in the contest. Winona State outshot the Huskies 9-6 in the game but the Huskies did outpace the Warriors 5-4 in shots on target.
Then Huskies will return to the field on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 1:00 p.m. for a conference match against Upper Iowa State.
