Softball Begins NSIC Play This Week

The team is on the road against Minnesota Duluth on Tuesday and returns home to host Minot State and the University of Mary over the weekend
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The St. Cloud State softball team (16-10), will look to break a six-game skid this week, when the program opens up Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play by traveling to Minnesota Duluth (16-8) on Tuesday, March 28, in a doubleheader on the road at Junction Avenue Field starting at noon. The program then returns home and continues league play by hosting a pair of NSIC opponents in doubleheaders against Minot State (8-5) on Saturday, April 1, starting 1 p.m. and against the University of Mary (6-19) on Sunday, April 2, beginning at 1 p.m. The home games are tentatively scheduled to be held indoors at the Husky Dome at the moment, but please check scsuhuskies.com later in the week to see if the contests will be changed to the outdoor venue of Selke Field.

- This year each of St. Cloud State's seven senior softball players has chosen a day to have their Senior Day on.
- On April 1, senior Rebecca Harps will be honored and recognized.
- Harps is an outfielder/pitcher from Yucaipa, Calif. and is a four-year player for SCSU
- She has played in 115 career games with 93 starts including 17 appearance and two games started in the circle.
- Harps has a career batting average of .329 with 55 runs, 93 hits, 16 doubles, two home runs and 42 RBIs.
- She had a breakout season as a junior when she played in 55 games with 54 starts in right field.
- She led the team with her .351 batting average, 59 hits and 12 doubles, while placing second on the team with her 27 RBIs.
- This season, Harps is hitting .342 with 19 runs, 26 hits, four doubles, a triple, two home runs and 12 RBIs.
- She has been a two-time NSIC Spring All-Academic Team selection and captured the team's Golden Gloves Defensive Player of the Year and the team's Most Outstanding Player Award in 2016.

- On April 2, senior Abby Bunnell will be honored and recognized
- Bunnell is an outfielder from Maple Grove, Minn.
- She has played in 180 career games with 179 starts.
- Bunnell has a career batting average of .308 with 115 runs, 181 hits, eight doubles, three triples, 44 RBIs plus 93 stolen bases.
- She is the school's all-time leader in stolen bases and is placed 10th in career runs scored.
- She has stolen more than 25 bases in each of the last three seasons.
- This season, Bunnell is hitting .337 with 20 runs, 28 hits, nine RBIs and 24 stolen bases.
- She has served as a team captain in each of the last two seasons.
- Bunnell was named the NSIC Softball Player of the Week on March 14, 2016
- She earned the team's Golden Glove Defensive Player of the Year Award following the 2015 season.
- She is the daughter of Curt and Deb Bunnell
- Minnesota Duluth will be running live stats / live video on their website on Tuesday
- St. Cloud State has live stats for the two home games on Saturday against Minot State and the two home games Sunday against the University of Mary.

- SCSU has a 4-8 record against Minot State in a series that started during the 1981 season.

- Rebekkah Keller leads the offense with her .380 batting average and 30 hits.

- The Huskies had a tough 0-6 weekend at the Hy-Vee Classic from March 17-19
- Sophomore Morgan Emmans was a bright spot on the trip with her .467 batting average, seven hits, two RBIs and 10 total bases.
- Sophomore Jaiden Lund hit .375 with six hits, three walks and four RBIs.
- Senior Alyssa Coletto put up a .353 batting average with six hits and five RBIs
- Freshman Maya Keating picked up seven hits and scored three runs.
- Coletto leads the team with her .438 batting average and nine doubles on the season.
- She also has 32 hits, 13 runs scored, three home runs and 21 RBIs.
- Coletto is second in the league in doubles, fifth in batting average, sixth in on-base percentage (.506) and seventh in slugging percentage (.712).
- Keating is hitting .403 with 17 runs, 29 hits, 11 stolen bases plus 12 walks and a .494 on-base percentage.
- Keating is seventh in the NSIC in stolen bases and ninth in on-base percentage.
- Emmans has a .397 batting average, five doubles, two home runs and 18 RBIs
- She is second in the NSIC with a pair of sacrifice flies and sixth with two triples.
