Huskies drop 5-4 match against Marauders on Feb. 11

The St. Cloud State University women's tennis team lost a close 5-4 decision against NSIC rival University of Mary on Sunday, Feb. 11 in Fargo, N.D. The loss moves SCSU's season record to 0-4, 0-2 NSIC, while Mary improves to 1-1, 1-1 NSIC.
In action against Mary, the Huskies' Alexie Portz charted a strong 6-1, 6-2 win at number one singles and also teammed with Fernanda Quintino dos Santos for an 8-5 win at first doubles. Quintino dos Santos scored a 6-4, 6-0 victory at second singles for the Huskies, while SCSU's other match win came at third doubles. The duo of Emma Hanegraaf and Samantha Fitzpatrick tallied an 8-4 win over Mary's Shanna Stevenson and Lisa Anderson.
The Huskies will continue their 2018 season on Feb. 17 with match in Bemdiji, Minn. against Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State.
