SCSU soccer to host Bridgeport on Sept. 14

The St. Cloud State University soccer team (0-1-1, 0-0-0 NSIC) will continue its 2019 season with a match against the University of Bridgeport on Saturday, Sept. 14. The match at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud, Minn. will get underway at 11 a.m. Tickets for the match are available at the gate and all SCSU students get in FREE with their student ID card.

- The Huskies will match up for the first time against Bridgeport on Sept. 14. Bridgeport won the 2018 NCAA DII championship with a 1-0 victory over Grand Valley State. This marks the second consecutive season that SCSU has faced the defending national champion during its non-conference schedule. Last year, SCSU played Central Missouri, which won the NCAA title in 2017.
- Last weekend, SCSU opened its season with a 0-0 double OT tie against Michigan Tech at Husky Stadium on Sept. 6. Zoe Welsh earned her seventh career shutout in the match with four saves in the game. SCSU now owns a three game unbeaten streak against MTU. SCSU ended the season opening weekend with a 2-0 loss to non-conference rival Northern Michigan on Sept. 8 at Husky Stadium. After a scoreless first half, NMU scored two goals in the second half to win the contest.
- On the topic of shutouts, Welsh now ranks sixth in the team records for most career shutouts at SCSU. Listed below are the Huskies' top career shutout leaders in net.

Next weekend, the Huskies will open the NSIC season with a match against Bemidji State on Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. The game at Husky Stadium has been designated as SCSU Faculty/Staff Night. All SCSU faculty and staff along with a guest will be admitted to the game for free.
- SCSU will finish the weekend with a home match against Minnesota Crookston on Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. The day has been designated as SCSU Senior Day. This year's SCSU seniors will be recognized at the game. The game has also been designated as Youth Day and all youth in grades 12 and under will be admitted free to the game when accompanied by a paid adult.
