St. Cloud State soccer opens 2019 NSIC season on Sept. 20

The St. Cloud State University soccer team (1-1-1, 0-0-0 NSIC) will open its 2019 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference season on Friday, Sept. 20 with a 4 p.m. showdown at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud, Minn. against defending NSIC champs Bemidji State University (1-2-0, 0-0-0 NSIC).
The Huskies will then complete the weekend with an NSIC match against Minnesota Crookston (0-1-0, 0-0-0 NSIC) on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. SCSU will salute its 2019 seniors during a special pre-game ceremony on Sept. 22. The game has also been designed Youth Day with all youth in grades 12 or under getting in free with a paid adult.
Tickets for both of these key NSIC battles are available at the gate and all SCSU students get in FREE to these home games at scenic Husky Stadium.

SCSU SOCCER NEWS AND NOTES:
- The Huskies will wrap up their five match homestand with a pair of NSIC games at Husky Stadium on Sept. 20 against BSU and Sept. 22 vs. Minnesota Crookston.
- Last year, SCSU lost a close 3-2 match at Bemidji State. The last time SCSU played BSU at Husky Stadium, SCSU lost a 1-0 match to the Beavers on Oct. 28, 2016. SCSU will be looking to snap a four match losing streak against BSU. The last victory for the Huskies over BSU was a 2-1 OT decision on Oct. 30, 2015. In the all-time series, SCSU is 8-9-1 against Bemdiji State. The series dates back to 1996.
- In action against UMC, the Huskies are 16-0-1 vs. the Golden Eagles since 1997. Last year, SCSU charted a 1-0 win over UMC on Sept. 16, 2018. The last time this game was played in St. Cloud, SCSU and UMC ran to a 0-0 2OT decision on Oct. 27, 2017.
- Last weekend, SCSU gained a huge 3-2 victory over the defending national champions Bridgeport on Sept. 14 at Husky Stadium.
- Kaitlyn Dziubinski gained the game winner with a penalty kick goal at 67:51 to give SCSU a 3-2 lead.
- Dziubinski also added an assist on the game's first goal by Clarie Shea at :49 of the game. Teammate Nicole Friis provided SCSU's second goal of the game at 38:58.
- A junior midfielder from St. Charles, Ill., Dziubinski's goal was her first as a Husky, and her second career assist.
- The goal was Shea's third career marker as a Huksy and it was Friis' second career goal at SCSU.
- In the contest, SCSU outshot UB 12-8.
- Zoe Welsh was the goalie of record for SCSU in the match vs. Bridgeport. This was her first victory of the new season and it improved her career record to 9-7-5 as a Husky.
- SCSU will salute its seniors on Sunday, Sept. 22. This year's senior class includes: Kristine Knief, Hannah Marion, Mia Giorgi, Harper DeMay, Monica Majeski, Brooke Bares, Mallory Mollenhauer, Emma Van Donselaar
