The St. Cloud State University women's tennis team (3-7) opened its series of spring break matches in Arizona with a 6-1 victory over Mesa Community College on Monday, March 9 in Mesa, Ariz.

The Huskies gained victories in singles play at first singles by Shanna Kinny (6-1, 6-3) and at second singles by Jill Kedrowski (6-2, 6-2) against Mesa. SCSU also added match points with forfeit wins at fourth singles, fifth singles and sixth singles to obtain the winning edge in the match. In doubles play, SCSU's duo of Kedrowski and Mirei Ichida scored an 8-3 win at first doubles. SCSU's second and third doubles teams also posted forfeit wins to give the Huskies a 6-1 match win.

SCSU will continue its Arizona schedule with an 11 a.m. match at Paradise Valley C.C. in Phoenix, Ariz.
