BURNSVILLE, MINN. - As far as final chapters go, St. Cloud State University tennis seniors Frances Hina Goldsmith (Honolulu, Hawaii / Dixie State) and Jill Kedrowski (St. Cloud, Minn. / St. Cloud Tech) could not have written a better ending. The duo led the Huskies tennis team to one of their best seasons in recent history, charting a three match win streak in April and earning Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) wins over Minnesota State, Minnesota-Crookston and Upper Iowa. On Tuesday, the seniors were awarded for their efforts, as they were voted Second Team All-NSIC by the conference coaches.
Goldsmith and Kedrowski are the first St. Cloud State student-athletes to earn All-NSIC honors since 2018, when Alexie Portz and Fernanda Quintino DosSantos earned First Team honors for their doubles play. Goldsmith, in particular, made quite the impression in her first season with the Huskies, as she earned Second Team honors for her performances both in singles and doubles play throughout 2021. As St. Cloud State's No. 1 singles player, Goldsmith posted an overall dual match record of 7-4, including six wins against the top singles players in NSIC play.Â
Kedrowski joined Goldsmith in earning Second Team All-NSIC honors in doubles play, as the duo continuously solidified themselves as one of the top teams in the conference. As a tandem, Goldsmith and Kedrowski were 5-2 overall with a 4-1 record in NSIC play. The duo won two of their final three matches as a duo, and the one match they did lose was on a late break by the other team. Additionally, Kedrowski was dominant in singles play throughout the spring season, as she won eight doubles matches with a variety of partners, including Goldsmith, Shanna Kinny (Litchfield, Minn. / Litchfield) and Kylee Frisbie (Foley, Minn. / Foley).Â
