No. 1 Joey Bianchini named NSIC Wrestler of the Week

St. Cloud, Minn. – No. 1 Joseph Bianchini has been named NSIC Wrestler of the Week following his tremendous effort at the North Country Open, dominating the Gold Division on his way to becoming one of 12 Open Champs. Bianchini pinned Cade Willis (Augsburg), Ryan Watts (NDSU) and Cade Lundeen (Concordia-Moorhead) in his first three matches, then earned a 10-4 decision over No. 2 Sam Stuhl of Augsburg in the Finals to earn a North Country Open Title.
"Joey wrestled fantastic on Sunday," said head coach Steve Costanzo. "I was very impressed with his attack ratio and his ability to go for the pin. He continues to make great strides day-after-day on a consistent basis."
The honor is the first Weekly award of Bianchini's career. St. Cloud State returns to NSIC competition with a January 27 home match against No. 15 Upper Iowa at 7:00 p.m. CT. Coverage is available on the NSIC Network and TrackWrestling, with links available on the SCSU Wrestling page.
