
St. Cloud State Women’s Score Drops Close Match to Minnesota State

State Huskies tied the game late, but Mavericks responded with go-ahead goal in 85th minute
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (4-5-3, 3-3-3 NSIC) fell to Minnesota State Mankato (9-1-2, 7-0-2 NSIC) on Friday night at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud, Minn. The 2-1 loss is the second one-score loss of the season for the Huskies.
TURNING POINT
The Mavericks scored in the ninth minute of the game thanks to the senior midfielder. The Huskies battled the rest of the half and entered the scoring column late in the 80th minute of the game as sophomore forward Megan Kirby (Navarre, Fla.) notched up her fourth goal of the season and tied the game with a critical goal off an assist from freshman forward Emma Duerr (Buffalo, Minn.). The Mavericks, however, broke the short-lived tie in the 85th minute as senior forward Jenny Vetter kicked in a goal off of a breakaway opportunity. The Huskies were unable to score in the final minutes of the game.
