Huskies win all three doubles and all six singles matches
SARTELL, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Tennis (4-3, 3-3 NSIC) earned a decisive 7-0 win over UW-Stout in its home opener on Sunday at Sta-Fit Center in Sartell, Minn. The Huskies won all three doubles matches and all six singles matches in the match on Sunday.
DOUBLES
The Huskies won each match in doubles competition, including a 6-0 victory at the No. 2 position from freshman Maria Paz Aoki (Marcos Paz, Argentina) and junior Shanna Kinny (Litchfield, Minn.). At the No. 1 positions, the Huskies' top team of freshman Johana Brower (Sioux Falls, S.D) and freshman Claudia Munoz Perez (Tarragona, Spain) won 6-2 over Lauren Couves and Ellie Becker.
SINGLES
Just like in doubles play, the Huskies won each match in singles competition to close the game out at 7-0. Munoz Perez and senior Samantha Fitzpatrick (Rogers, Minn.) both won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 5 and 6 positions, respectively.
The only match in singles play that went to three sets was the matchup at the No. 1 position, as freshman Arisa Kashima (Saitama, Japan) fell behind 5-7 in the first set against Lauren Couves before winning the final two sets, 6-0, 10-6 to earn the victory.
