
Eight Early Signees Added to Class of 2024 for St. Cloud State Women’s Soccer

Huskies adds eight highly decorated recruits from four states within the region
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer announced the addition of eight early signees to the Class of 2024 who chose to continue their academic and athletic careers at St. Cloud State University. Head Coach Gretta Macdonald and assistant coach Jade Smith added future Huskies from the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan. The talented group has earned numerous all-conference and all-state honors and are currently competing with elite regional club teams.
"Coach Jade and I are excited to welcome the early signees of the 2024 recruiting class. As a group, they are fierce competitors who embody a team first mentality," said Macdonald. "All of them personify the Husky Way because of their commitment to excellence in their lifestyle, academic and athletic pursuits. We are proud of how the current roster has welcomed this group and built connections. These connections will continue to build upon our traditions and will be important for the years ahead. We appreciate their hard work and dedication to improvement and are excited to watch them develop over the next year."
Darby Allen – Midfielder – Minnetonka, Minn. – Minnetonka High School – Tonka Fusion Elite Girls Academy
Midfielder Darby Allen joins the St. Cloud State program from Minnetonka High School and Tonka Fusion Elite Girls Academy. She was a three-year academic letterwinner for the Skippers who earned all-conference honorable mention honors as a junior before being named a captain and earning all-conference honors as a senior. She also earned academic award recognition from the Minnesota Soccer Coaches Association in her senior campaign. At the club level, Allen vaulted Tonka Fusion into the MN State Cup championship game with a game-winning penalty kick goal in the semifinals.
"I chose Husky Soccer because it felt like a family," said Allen. "Being around the coaches and the team you can feel the love and passion for each other and the game, but there is also a competitive environment fostered by a collective desire to win and get better. I am excited to continue the building history of success here, and further the Husky culture! Go Huskies!"
Izabel Halunen – Defense – Woodbury, Minn. – Woodbury High School – Salvo Girls Academy
Hailing from Woodbury, Izabel Halunen garnered all-metro and all-state honors following a highly successful senior season at Woodbury High School. Halunen scored three goals and one assist while leading the Royals to the 2023 4AAA district championship game and earning First Team All-State honors by the Minnesota State High School League and First Team All-Metro by the Star Tribune. At the club level, Halunen has played for the Salvo Girls Academy, where she has participated in the Girls Academy Advisory Panel, an organization that gives the players an opportunity to represent the collective voice within the Girls Academy, since it was founded. Her participation began at the team level, then moved to the club level and conference level before this season, where she was selected as one of three players in the country to represent the league as an Ambassador to the League.
"I chose Huskies Soccer because of the sense of community, level of support, and competitive environment," said Halunen. "I'm excited to grow as both a person and player over the next four years."
Gabrielle Hofeld – Forward – St. Paul, Minn. – White Bear Lake High School – Salvo Girls Academy
A four-year letterwinner in soccer and six-year letterwinner in hockey at White Bear Lake High School, Hofeld joins the Huskies as an attacking forward. She was a two-time captain for the Bears who earned all-conference honors in her junior and senior campaigns, in addition to being named her team's rookie of the year in her freshman season. She was also awarded the IBEAR award for intensity, integrity, indomitable will and inspiration. At the club level, Hofeld plays for the Salvo Girls Academy.
"I chose SCSU because of the coaches and the way it felt like a home away from a home," said Hofeld. "The coaches are so caring and make you feel like a person and not just a number to their roster. The team environment really stands out to me and how close they are makes me feel welcome and makes it feel like a family or another home."
Jordan Kardelis – Midfielder – Muskego, Wis. – Muskego High School – SC Wave Girls Academy
A four-year member of the Muskego High School varsity soccer team, Jordan Kardelis joins the St. Cloud State program as a midfielder from Muskego, Wis. Kardelis helped the Muskego Warriors capture back-to-back state titles in 2022 and 2023. With her club team, she helped SC Wave Girls Academy win the Wisconsin State Club championship in 2020.
"I chose Husky soccer because of the atmosphere; everyone is continually challenging each other and making each other better while also not diminishing from the family atmosphere they have created," said Kardelis.
Abaigael Kavanagh – Defender – Marine on Saint Croix, Minn. – Hill-Murray High School – Salvo Girls Academy
Abaigael Kavanagh will join the Huskies after playing her prep career at Hill-Murray High School where she earned First Team all-state and all-conference honorees for the Pioneers. She was also named to the academic honor roll during her junior and senior seasons for her success in the classroom. At the club level, Kavanagh plays for the Salvo Girls Academy.
"I chose Huskies Soccer because Coach Gretta and Jade made me feel so at home and wanted," said Kavanagh. "I am so excited to develop myself as a player and person throughout my four years."
Audrey Walkington – Goalkeeper – Mason, Mich. – Mason High School – Michigan Jags
A goalkeeper from Mason, Mich., Audrey Walkington is a three-year letterwinner and starter in goal at Mason High School. As a junior, Walkington led Mason to one of its best seasons in recent history, helping the Hornets capture its first conference title since 2019. She was also awarded an academic letter from the high school for her success in the classroom. At the club level, Walkington plays for the Michigan Jags where she helped lead her team to the State Cup championship in 2022.
"I chose to be a Husky because everything that was offered made it feel so tight knit and that when I arrived, I would immediately be accepted into a big family," said Walkington. "I look forward to continuing to improve as a goalkeeper and contributing to the success of a great program."
Delaney Weier – Forward – Madison, Wis. – Madison Memorial High School – Madison 56ers
A four-year letterwinner at Madison Memorial High School, Delaney Weier joins the Huskies as a forward. At the club level, Weier plays for the Madison 56ers where she helped her team reach two State Cup championship games and win one State Title. In the classroom, Weier is a member of the National Honors Society.
"I chose St. cloud State because the moment I stepped onto campus Coach Gretta, Coach Jade and the team made me like I was a part of a special community," said Weier. "I knew that I wasn't just going to be a number, I would be a part of the Husky family. I am extremely excited to grow academically and athletically with my teammates over the next four years!"
Reese Zediker – Defender – Caledonia, Ill. – Rockford Guilford High School – Rockford Raptors ECNL
A skilled defender who is not afraid to jump up into the action and contribute offensively, Reese Zediker joins the St. Cloud State program from Rockford Guilford High School in Caledonia, Ill. She has led her high school team in points, assists and goals in each of her three seasons on the varsity team, and earned all-state honors in her 2023 junior campaign after scoring seven goals and eight assists. At the club level, Zediker plays for the Rockford Raptors ECNL where they qualigied for the regional league playoffs and finished second in 2022. In the classroom, Zediker is a member of the National Honors Society.
"I chose St. Cloud because of the sense of belonging the coaches and players made me feel right away when I got onto campus," said Zediker. "Also, the ability to compete and play with some amazing people!"
St. Cloud State will host the NSIC semifinals on Friday, Nov. 10 when the Huskies face No. 4-seed Bemidji State at 2:00 p.m. CT at Husky Stadium. Live coverage will be available on the NSIC Network.
