St. Cloud State Softball Slated to Play Ten Games in Florida

Huskies set to play ten games in the Springs Games including No. 1 Rogers State
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State softball team is gearing up to spend a week down in the sunshine state as the Huskies will take part in the Springs Games. The Huskies are slated to play ten games from Mar. 3 through Mar. 9 while down in Florida.

SPRINGS GAME SCHEDULE
Friday, March 3:
ST. CLOUD STATE HUSKIES (5-5)
The Huskies enter the weekend 5-5. At the Washburn Invite last weekend, the Huskies defeated Central Missouri 3-1, Nebraska-Kearney 9-4, and Rockhurst 9-3 while falling 3-2 to Pittsburg State. In their double-header at Emporia State, SCSU fell 3-1 and 6-5 to the Hornets.

Sophomore infielder Maggie Fitzgerald was named the NSIC Player of the Week on Feb. 27. Fitzgerald is averaging .500 at bat owning a .556 OBP while slugging 625. Additionally, she has eight hits, five RBIs, and two doubles. Graduate catcher Sydney Trees is batting .481 owning a .600 OBP while slugging .704. Trees has 13 hits, ten RBIs, three doubles, and one home run this season. Senior pitcher Trinity Junker owns a 3-1 record. Junker has struck out 27 batters with an ERA of 1.96 in 23.0 innings pitched.

FINDLAY OILERS (9-2)
Findlay enters the weekend 9-2 overall. The Oilers are on an eight-game winning streak defeating Gannon 13-5 in their last matchup. Findlay is led by the talented duo of Avery Shepherd and Olivia Carlton. In 40 plate appearances, Shepherd is batting .474 with a .500 OBP while slugging .737. Additionally, she has 18 hits, seven RBIs, five doubles, and one triple and home run. Carlton is batting .424 with a .500 OBP while slugging .879 with 15 hits, 12 RBIs, three home runs, and two triples and doubles. In the circle, sophomore Emma Jones leads the Oilers owning a 4-0 record. Jones has struck out 13 batters with an ERA of 1.27 in 22.0 innings pitched.

The 2022 reigning National Champions, Rogers State enters the weekend as the unanimous No. 1 team in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Coaches Poll (NFCA). The Hillcats enter the Springs Games owning a 12-1 overall record. Sophomore infielder Bridgett Morales is the Hillcats leading front. Morales is batting .447 with a .522 OBP while slugging .737. She has 17 hits, 16 RBIs, five doubles, and two home runs. Junior right-handed pitcher Sara Llamas-Howell is 5-0 on the season striking out 24 batters with an ERA of 1.52 in 29.2 innings pitched.
