ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Softball (25-21, 8-12 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) was swept by Minnesota Duluth (32-13, 13-7 NSIC) Tuesday afternoon at the Husky Dome in St. Cloud. The Bulldogs took game one, 12-0 in five innings and game two, 4-3.

Top Huskies
The Huskies struck first in game two, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third, after freshman shortstop Brooke Holmes (Savage, Minn.) hit a sacrifice fly to score Weinberger. UMD responded quickly in the next half inning, scoring two runs to take its first lead of the game at 2-1.
The Bulldogs extended their lead to three runs after a two-RBI double in the top of the sixth. Looking to make a seventh inning rally, the Huskies got just the start they needed. Junior utility Rainna Stangle (Sartell, Minn.) was inserted into the game as a pinch hitter and crushed a solo home run to center field on the first pitch of the inning, cutting the Huskies deficit to two runs with no outs. Senior center fielder Tenley Quesnell (Boise, Idaho) hit a single in the next at bat. After advancing to second on a wild pitch, Quesnell moved to third when junior catcher Reese Holzhueter (Shakopee, Minn.) hit a single. Weinberger put the ball in play and the Bulldogs attempted to get Quesnell out at home but were unsuccessful.
After the Huskies cut the lead to just one and had runners on first and second with no one out, UMD made a pitching change. SCSU's momentum was wiped as it stranded the runners, ending the game with a strikeout, a pop out and a ground out.
