Weinberger Breaks School Record on Senior Day, St. Cloud State Softball Splits Final Regular Season Doubleheader

Weinberger sets record for career doubles, Huskies honor five seniors
GAME ONE: ST. CLOUD STATE 7, UMARY 3
The Huskies made a statement to open the first game, scoring seven runs on five hits in the home half of the first inning. The first run of was driven in by freshman shortstop Brooke Holmes (Savage, Minn.), who drew a bases loaded walk to score fifth year right fielder Holly Weinberger (Waconia, Minn.). Junior designated player Rainna Stangle (Sartell, Minn.) hit a two-RBI single into right field to bring in freshman catcher/designated player Bethany Weiss (Forest Lake, Minn.) and junior first baseman Maggie Fitzgerald (Oak Lawn, Ill.). Senior second baseman Lydia Krueger (Appleton, Wis.) hit an RBI-single to score Holmes, Stangle scored on an error and in junior left fielder Reese Holzhueter (Shakopee, Minn.) hit a two-RBI single to left field to bring the Huskies final runs of the inning across.
UMary scored one in the second, fifth and sixth, but the damage had already been done as SCSU held on for a 7-3 victory. Junior right handed pitcher Emma Eickhoff (Becker, Minn.) picked up her 12th win of the season after pitching 5.0 innings. She allowed five hits and just one earned run while recording three strikeouts.

- Holzhueter surpassed 70 hits on the season and reached 150 for her career. She also surpassed 30 RBI for the season. She extended her hitting streak to eight games and recorded her 19th multi-hit game of the season.
- Weinberger surpassed 230 career hits and posted her 16th multi-hit game of the season. Her double was the 51st of her career, tying the school record.
- Eickhoff has pitched 155.0 innings this season and 315 in her career. She now has 30 career wins.
- Stangle stole her first base of the season.
- Krueger stole her 10th base of the season.
- Frechette tallied her 30th hit of the season.
- Holmes recorded her 20th RBI of the season.
- Fitzgerald and Weiss each had their seven-game hit streak ended.
The Marauders were the ones to make the strong statement in game two, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning and extending that lead to 7-0 in the third. Krueger drove in a run in the third and Weinberger was driven in by Fitzgerald in the fifth after she hit her 52nd career double to break the school record, but it wasn't enough, as UMary went on to win the final regular season game.

- Weinberger broke the school record for doubles in a career with 52, passing Kelly Olson (2010-13) and Abby Bourman (2000-03) who each had 51 in their career. She posted her 17th multi-hit game of the season and surpassed 100 career runs scored.
- Krueger tied her single season best for RBI with 18.
- Porter surpassed 205.0 career innings pitched.
- Holzhueter extended her hitting streak to nine games.
The Huskies will play in the Opening Round of the NSIC Tournament in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Wednesday at noon or 2:30 p.m. The Huskies will find out their opponent and game time on Sunday when the tournament bracket is released after the completion of all the regular season games.
